Why choose a ground screw base
There are plenty of advantages with having the ground screw system – the main one being that it all falls under one company’s responsibility.
It also has the advantage over sites with difficult access, as the timber and the screws can be easily carried to site by hand. In addition, there is no requirement for a skip, as the small amount of spoil is simply spread in around garden.
Ground screw bases are also the go to choice for customers that aren’t wanting to have a concrete pad in the garden, especially if they may look to reinstate the environment at a later date.
To determine whether the Ground Screw option is suitable for you, please refer to the checklist below.

Ground Screw Checklist
Site Clearance | The site will need to be clear of buildings and vegetation prior to inspection as test holes are drilled to check the suitability of the site. |
---|---|
Site Levelness | Please note that we can provide a ground screw base up to a maximum fall of 150mm |
Ground Conditions | The ground needs to be able to accommodate the screws. We are unable to provide a ground screw base if the area has paving or concrete slabs, or if the soil is particularly hard. We are also unable to install if the ground is full of rocks or has tree roots. |
Underground Services | Disclaimer: We are unable to take responsibility for drilling down into underground items such as drainage pipes, electric cables, or sewer systems. |
Alternative Options
Should the site inspection indicate that a ground screw base isn’t suitable, then a paving slab or concrete pad will still be available. If however, you would only entertain a ground screw base system, then we would recommend the Groundscrewcentre as a viable alternative, as they can provide larger screws for sites with more gradient, and machinery to tackle the hardest of ground.
